KRIO Plc. commenced activity on 17th December 1998. The primary goal of our activity is
freezing and preserving sperms of males whose fertility may be endangered any applied
operations or therapies.
Naturally, our door was and is open for those healthy men as well who visit us on
safeguarding considerations. Certainly, in these cases the preservation is done
exclusively for their own purposes.

We extended our profile on 1st January 2000 by adding donor services to our scope of
professional and business activity.

In the last years we started a very intensive research in the using of stem cells with
umbilical cord blood origin. Since 2001, our institute has been participating in
experiments as part of a consortium, together with other members who are also planning
to establish umbilical cord banks. As a result of these experiments, on 4th March 2004,
KRIO was the first institute in Hungary to receive the approval of the professional
authority for the freezing and preservation of umbilical cord blood.
